Sargan Eight exerience

Sargan Eight is one of the most breathtaking tourist trains in this part of Europe. The sheer beauty and charm of this journey have left an indelible mark on my memory, and I believe it deserves to be celebrated as a true treasure. Imagine a picturesque landscape, where lush green valleys meet majestic mountains. This is the backdrop for the Sargan Eight, a narrow-gauge railway located in Serbia. The train route follows the path of the historical Belgrade-Sarajevo railway and offers an unforgettable ride through the stunning nature of the Mokra Gora region.

From the moment I boarded the train, I was captivated by the nostalgic atmosphere and old-world charm. The train’s vintage carriages, meticulously restored to their former glory, transported me back in time. As I stud by the open window, the gentle breeze caressed my face, and the rhythmic clatter of the wheels created a soothing soundtrack for the journey ahead. My son felt asleep.

The Sargan Eight gets its name from the shape of the railway track, which resembles the number eight. This unique layout allows the train to navigate the steep gradients and sharp turns of the mountainous terrain, offering passengers an exciting and dynamic ride. As the train chugs along the tracks, it passes through 22 tunnels and crosses over five impressive bridges, each with its own story to tell.
